What is a Life Coach for Kids? WISDOM Coach®?

A life coach teaches mindset skills to kids, either one-on-one or in group settings. A life coach helps kids learn, understand, and practice these skills while providing a safe space for kids to explore their thoughts and experiences.

A WISDOM Coach® is certified by Adventures in Wisdom to use the Adventures in WISDOM Life Coaching for Kids Curriculum to teach 27 different mindset skills to kids, using stories, questions and activities.  Since 2013, AIW has certified hundreds of coaches in more than 30 countries.

What are mindset skills?

Your mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you see yourself and your world.

No matter how much we love our children, we can’t give them self-esteem, self-confidence, resilience, or success in life. These are mindset skills that kids must develop. Most humans develop their mindset passively, through life experiences.

Mindset training is about teaching kids how to use the power of their thoughts and their minds to proactively develop these skills so that kids:

  • Have strong self-esteem that doesn’t rise and fall with the ups and downs of growing up

  • Feel confident to step outside their comfort zone and have a go, or try new things

  • Can handle life’s curveballs like disappointments, change, mistakes, and failures without getting down on themselves or giving up on themselves

  • Take responsibility for their life and make good decisions (even when no one is looking)

  • Understand how to set and achieve goals, and the brain science of success.

These are superpowers that many grownups don’t know!

What is the difference between a mindset training class and 1:1 child life coaching?

A mindset training class is a group class that teaches a single skill and provides a safe and open environment where kids can share and discuss if they wish.

Coaching is a one-on-one relationship and the child being coached is the only focus of the session. This means focusing on a child's own limiting and supportive beliefs, challenges, fears, goals, etc. One-on-one coaching can be conducted in person or online.
